As part of our vision to reimagine our streets as places for people, Council undertook works to transform Deane Street into a vibrant, open space for outdoor dining and entertainment. This included a road closure on Deane Street, from Burwood Road to Youth Lane, to allow for these opportunities. A Pop Up Café has been installed, complete with a raised timber decking and floral planting. 

Works included

  • Road pavement painting with vibrant artwork
  • New landscaping including planter boxes and tree planting
  • Solar lighting
  • New bike rack and repair station
  • New tables, seating and shading umbrella
  • New Pop Up Café with timber decking and synthetic grass 

This trial is intended to run for at least 6 months with ongoing activation dates for the community to come and enjoy the space.
