Council to honour local businesses

It’s Small Business Month in NSW and Council will mark the occasion with a special networking event to help re-establish the connection between businesses and the community after a challenging two years.
On 25 March in partnership with the Burwood Asian Business Partnership and Croydon Park Business Chamber Council will be hosting the ‘Growing your Business Information and Networking; event on the Burwood Community Hub terrace.
Local business representatives are invited to attend the event where Andre Stephan, founder of popular restaurant El Jannah will be the featured guest speaker, detailing his experience of running a small business in the very heart of Burwood.
He will also highlight the importance of Government support programs and how small businesses can use them to their advantage.
A highlight of the evening will be the formal presentation of the Mayor’s Inaugural Commendation Awards.
This program recognises small businesses that have made a significant contribution to Burwood’s sense of place and have operated continuously within the Burwood Local Government Area for a minimum of 10 years.
Mayor John Faker is looking forward to presenting the awards and is urging business leaders to make the most of this networking opportunity.
“Small businesses are the lifeblood of our community. They are essential to the story of our area as they provide jobs, support and sponsor local schools, sporting clubs, and community organisations sometimes across generations.
“It is an honour to recognise these businesses and their owners many who have lived, worked, and contributed to Burwood for many years,” Cr Faker said.
“This networking opportunity is wonderful chance for businesses to come together after a tough few years to celebrate, talk to one another, and learn about the ways that Governments can provide support.”
