First Look At Plans For Enfield Aquatic Centre

Exciting plans for Enfield Aquatic Centre, including an additional pool, have been released in a virtual tour animation by Burwood Council.
Council will provide a new 25m indoor pool for swimming lessons and other activities, following strong demand for the existing 25m indoor pool.
A viewing area for parents will be part of the works, part of a $2.2 million investment in the centre this financial year.
Burwood Mayor John Faker said plenty of residents wanted to learn to swim at Enfield.
"Swimming is an important life skill, and it's great exercise," he said.
"We want to make sure our residents have the opportunity to enjoy the water close to home."
The Burwood Local Planning Panel will assess the plans.
If approved, council staff hope the project could be completed next year.
In subsequent years, Council is proposing to provide an improved reception and kiosk, a multipurpose room for exercise and more parking.
Swimmers at the 50m pool - the oldest freshwater one in Sydney (built in 1933) - would also benefit.
Shade would be provided above the concrete bleachers where many people relax.
Other activities at the centre include squad training and aqua fitness programs.
Children can also enjoy a water play park and toddlers pool.
