Burwood Girls High School x Pop Art Banners

Pop Art Portraits

Inspired by Roy Lichtenstein's bold pop aesthetic, a group of year 7 Students from Burwood Girls High School recently displayed a series of self-portraits in the Burwood Library and Hub.

Using vibrant colours, thick outlines and dynamic expressions the students were asked to capture their own personalities in graphic, comic-inspired style artworks. Students were also asked to incorporate slang into the artwork to further express themselves. Posca markers and coloured cardboard were used to embrace exaggerated expressions and complimentary colours, playing with the idea of self as both character and individual. Of the series three were selected for banner artworks.
