Multicultural Street Meet

We are excited to be bringing a new event to town: the Multicultural Street Meet! 

In celebration of Harmony Day 2023, join Burwood Council and Metro Assist as we showcase the diversity and wonderfully vibrant mix of creative cultural capital here in the Burwood through activities and performances from cultures all around the world.

There will be music, dancing, games, art, crafts, food and more!

Fun for the whole family, the Multicultural Street Meet will begin at 11am and finish at 4pm on Saturday 18 March. Activities and performances will be held across Unity Place, Burwood Library and Community Hub.   

Highlights include:

  • Diversity Scavenger Hunt: Collect enough stamps in your event Passport, and enter the draw to win prizes up to the value of $300 (see Terms and Conditions below)
  • Indoor sports
  • Origami workshop
  • Indigenous weaving
  • Latin music performances
  • Brazilian capoeira and drumming 
  • Chinese painting workshop

 

Diversity Scavenger Hunt Terms and Conditions

  1. The Diversity Scavenger Hunt will close at 4:00pm on Saturday 18 March 2023. Only entries received by this date and time will be valid.
  2. Entry is by way of a completed Multicultural Street Meet passport, this requires at least four (4) stamps of different colours, and relevant personal contact details.
  3. To enter, the completed Multicultural Street Meet passport needs to be placed in the competition entry box, located at the Burwood Council stall in Unity Place throughout the Multicultural Street Meet event open from 11:00am until 4.00pm on Saturday 18 May 2023.
  4. Entry is open to all participants in the Multicultural Street Meet event.
  5. Only one entry may be made per entrant.
  6. By submitting an entry into this competition, entrants warrant that they have read, understand and agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. If the entrant is under the age of 18 years, each entrant’s consenting parent or guardian is responsible for ensuring their familiarity with these terms and conditions at the time of participation.
  7. The winners will be decided by random draw on Harmony Day (Tuesday 21 March 2023) and will be notified via phone.
  8. Three (3) prizes total will be awarded, one grand prize of $300 worth of multicultural goods, and two (2) $100 prizes. Prizes will be presented within 28 working days after the winning announcement has been made.
  9. Prizes are not transferable, redeemable or exchangeable for cash.
  10. All entries become property of the Promoter. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for lost, stolen, or misdirected prizes.
  11. All personal information collected from the entrant will be treated in accordance with Council’s Privacy Management Plan.
  12. Entry into this competition signifies acceptance of all conditions. If an entrant does not accept the Terms and Conditions, they will be ineligible to receive a prize.
  13. Employees or family members of Burwood Council may not enter the competition.
  14. The promoter reserves the right to withdraw or amend the competition as necessary due to circumstances outside its control.
  15. If Burwood Council are unable to contact the winner, then the prize/s will be awarded to another valid entrant.
  16. Burwood Council reserves the right to cancel the competition if circumstances arise outside of its control.
  17. Burwood Council’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
