Burwood Council Wins Prestigious RH Dougherty Special Events Award

Burwood Council has been recognised at the Local Government Week Awards 2024, winning the RH Dougherty Special Events Award for Innovation in Special Events. This honour was awarded for the spectacular Burwood Street Party – Celebrating 150 Years of Burwood.

Held in Sydney, the awards ceremony celebrated the incredible achievements of councils across NSW in categories such as arts and culture, events, communications, and planning. The Burwood Street Party stood out for its unique vision - skilfully combining the richness of traditional festival themes with modern elements. The judges praised the event as "an impressive, cross-cultural, and diverse celebration with an innovative flair."
